CREATING THE CHUNKY CHAINS
Sometimes we just want an easy-to-wear necklace that's practical for everyday use, without losing that WOW factor, right?
After years of wearing jewellery, I came to the conclusion that chains are the best choice for this type of situation.
Hear me out, and I'll prove to you that chains are the wild card in the world of necklaces.
I have a few chain necklaces, and you probably do too, don't you? Mine are more traditional, made from metals like silver or gold, and vary in size. I do wear them quite often, sometimes solo and sometimes with a few of them together.
But the eureka moment came when I realised when I would wear them: every time I was in a hurry, when I just wanted to put something around my neck and leave. After all, chains are super easy to style with any type of top and still add some interestingness to yourself.
I was literally "Ahhhhhh it makes so much sense." And then I came to a second realisation (or Ahhhhh moment), I have never created a chain for Pinah. Of course, this had to be sorted.
After a lot of debate with myself about the type of chain I wanted to make, it became very clear that it had to be easy to wear and create the WOW factor without any effort. And also, COLOURS. I love colours. It had to be colourful to brighten up any day.
And so... The Chunky Chain was created.
Made from an artist-grade polymer, it allows me to build this bold, architectural volume chain while keeping it incredibly lightweight. You get all the drama of a heavy chain, but it's comfortable enough to wear all day.
Every single link is hand-sculpted by me. You might think this is not a big deal, buuuuuut on closer inspection, you will notice that there are no gaps or openings to connect one link to the other. The links are connected through a time-consuming process that can take a few hours to complete.
The raw finish is intentional. It celebrates the artistic process and every beautiful imperfection.
To finish, I added a contrasting ribbon bow for a bit of texture and surprise, and it also helps adjust the length to your preference.
(Sometimes I also wear the chain with the bow forward 😉)
Because I make The Chunky Chains entirely by hand, each is one-of-a-kind. It has its own personality, just like you.
I must say that I was very happy with the final results, and today, I see myself wearing them most of the time. Annnd, while I love all colours, I was even more surprised to find out that I wear the orange one more than any other colour.
What about you? Why not add a boost of colour to your everyday life with a chunky chain that refuses to blend in?
