THE SERIES

Year: 2022

In the Brazilian theatre tradition, there is a beautiful rite of passage called the Galharufa. It is a lucky charm given by an experienced actor to a novice before their debut, a symbol of protection and a welcome into the world of art.

I designed this Amulet inspired by my own Galharufa, which I received from a dear friend during my first play as a professional actress. I treasure it to this day, and I wanted to create a piece that brings you the same sense of grounding and luck.

I sculpt each Amulet entirely by hand without using any moulds. This means your piece is genuinely unique, shaped by the moment, with its own natural imperfections and organic form, just like a stone found in nature.

It is made from a concrete-resin, a material I chose because it mimics the raw, ancient aesthetic of stone but feels soft, warm, and lightweight against the skin. It hangs on a durable nylon thread, ready to be worn as your daily shield.

Because this is a handmade sculpture, no two are ever exactly the same. Your Amulet will be yours and yours alone.
